TA Dedicated Profiled as CCJ Innovator for Culture-First Safety Initiative
Commercial Carrier Journal (CCJ) recognized TA Dedicated and Vice President of Operations Melissa Suedbeck as a CCJ Innovator for results achieved in TA Dedicated’s companywide safety initiative. The culture-first safety initiative launched in 2025 has cut accidents and injuries 20% through technology-driven programs emphasizing accountability, driver engagement and continuous improvement.
Making safety a wildly important goal
The initiative was built on a framework called WIGs (Wildly Important Goals), focused on safety and reducing accident and injury frequency. Systems for tracking, reporting and coaching accelerated progress toward WIGS, while personalizing the processes being introduced. “Folks embraced this really quickly; I was excited to see how fast they embraced it and how quickly that helped drive results,” Suedbeck said.
Technology takes safety to the next level
Program highlights include Power BI dashboards that inspired positive recognition as well as friendly competition and coaching that leaned heavily on in-cab cameras, timely feedback, and follow-up.
Driver buy-in key to success
While any safety initiative will fail without drivers embracing programs, the TA Dedicated initiative was culture-driven and collaborative at its core. In the CCJ article, Suedbeck explained the approach caught some drivers off guard, especially newer drivers who may not have experienced that type of safety culture at different organizations. She said that she received a lot of positive feedback from drivers who weren’t used to that as a result.
